CELEBRATING SANDWELL’S APPRENTICES WITH THE APPRENTICE STAR JAMES WHITE

Our apprentices enjoyed the spotlight when they were celebrated at the 2019 Apprentice Star Awards, the first event of its kind – hosted by The Apprentice winner and business owner, James White.

Apprentices from Sandwell, currently working within businesses across the region were nominated for going above and beyond and excelling in their respective fields.

James White, hosted the event and was on hand to present the awards and congratulate winners. The Right Time Recruitment owner, who supports apprentices within his own business, shared his personal success story – offering an insight in to life after his appearance on the popular BBC show.

• Outstanding Apprentice & Employer in Construction – Thomas Hyde, Sandwell Council
• Outstanding Apprentice & Employer in Auto – Conner Blackwell, Sandwell Council
• Outstanding Apprentice & Employer in Engineering – Mary Taylor, Atotech UK Ltd
• Outstanding Apprentice & Employer in Medical – Lynne Haze, Crankhall Lane Dental
• Outstanding Apprentice & Employer in Schools and Early Years – Bethany Maher, Brandhall Primary School
• Outstanding Apprentice & Employer in Care – Nagina Bibi, Victoria Health Centre
• Outstanding Traineeships & Placement award – Bethany Stokes, Environmental Excellence Ltd
• Special award for Developing Apprenticeship Talent – Selina Lal & Lauren Newey, Highfield Care Home
• Best Advanced Apprentice – Robyn Meachem, Sandwell College HR Department
• Best Intermediate Apprentice – Baili Smith, Dent Wizard Ventures

On the event, Graham Pennington, Principal of Sandwell College said:

“It’s been a brilliant awards ceremony. Apprenticeships play an important role across the region, which is why it’s so important to drive apprenticeship initiatives and collaborate with Sandwell Council and local employers.

“It’s vital that we nurture the talents of those who excel when learning on-the-job and give them the chance to earn qualifications and develop those all-important vocational skills.”
