Level 1 qualifications will give you basic knowledge and skills and the ability to work with guidance or supervision. Learning at this level can start you on your career path.

NVQ1; GCSEs Grades 3-1 (Grades D-G); Level 1 Diploma
Entry requirements:
Entry Level Certificate or 2 GCSEs Grades 2-1 (E-G)
Learning at this level involves building knowledge and/or skills in relation to an area of work or a subject area and can be applied to many job roles as Level 2 qualifications show employers that you’ve reached a nationally recognised standard.
Qualifications include: NVQ2; GCSEs Grades 9-4
(Grades A* – C); Level 2 Diploma; Apprenticeships
Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs Grade 3 or above (A* – D); Equivalent qualification eg: Introductory Certificate, NVQ Level 1
Learning at this level involves obtaining detailed knowledge and skills. Level 3 qualifications are appropiate for people wishing to progress to university or, in some areas, supervising and training others in their field of work as you will have reached a nationally recognised standard.
Qualifications include: NVQ3; A Levels; Level 3 Extended Diploma; Advanced Apprenticeships
Entry requirements: Level 2 Diploma – Merit or above, 5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above (A* – C). You may also need Grade 4 or above (A* – C) in Maths and English.
These are degree level courses and learning at this level involves a high amount of in-depth study. A range of degre level programmes are available to study on either a full of part-time basis at Sandwell College.
Qualifications include: NVQ4; Foundation Degree; HNC/HND; BA (Hons); Teaching Qualifications; Higher Level Apprenticeships
