Photographer wearing protective glasses

Higher Education Photography students from Sandwell College are seeing their images through new eyes!
Partially sighted photographer Karren Visser hosted a studio workshop for current and past HNC/HND students and a visually impaired Foundation Learning student.
The learners worked alongside members of local charity group Sandwell Visually Impaired who came to experience the facilities and gain photographic knowledge.

Through the use of specially adapted glasses that demonstrate a variety of sight-related conditions, our learners produced a set of images that replicate what people with degenerative sight conditions see on a daily basis.
The images will be exhibited in the college exhibition space from the end of June but beforehand it is hoped that they will become part of the BLAST festival for the final 2 weeks of June in the Pride of Place exhibition.

Artist Richard Flatley instigated the collaboration between Karren, SVI and Sandwell College. The project has been supported by Creative Black Country.
