Three players from Sandwell College are through to the national trials for the England Colleges Football Team.
Last week four sport students went to Round 1 of the England Colleges Midlands Football Trials at Brooksby Melton College in Leicester, aiming to make the final England selection. Three of the four – Kyle Byrne, Ronan Ward and David Seymour – were selected for Round 2, taking place this weekend at Nottingham Forest FC training ground.
Trials for the final football squad are being coordinated by Future Elite Sports, who will also be on the look-out for potential American University scholarship players.
FE Sport Coordinator, Matt Hammett, said: “The fact that not only four players were accepted for initial Midlands trials, but that three have now been identified for National Trials, is an acknowledgement of the standard of football available within Sandwell College and a particular indicator of the growing strength of our
Football Academy Course in partnership with WBA Foundation.”
