Construction students struck Gold and Silver in the Skillbuild 2018 regional heat!
Luke Riley won Gold in the New Entrant and Mikael Miah won Silver in the Advanced Tiling competition held at South and City College.
Lecturer Paul Cole said: “To develop their practical skills and competence in anticipation of the competition, both Luke and Mikael have practiced really hard over the last couple of months putting in extra hours outside of their timetables, practicing previous years’ tiling competition drawings, interpreting drawing information to accurately transfer the measurements onto ceramic tiles then cutting and fixing them onto a substrate. In addition to the practical skills they have learnt, they have also developed key employability skills such as time management, organisation, planning, working under pressure and inherent soft skills such as listening and self confidence.”
