
This is an exam-based qualification for school leavers who wish to pursue a career in Beauty Therapy. Once qualified you will be able to start work in a junior role in a beauty salon.
GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 are an advantage.

• Facial treatments
• Skin type analysis
• Eyebrow shaping services
• Eyelash and eyebrow tinting services
• Makeup applications
• Anatomy and Physiology for beauty therapists
A minimum of 30 hours’ work experience is compulsory for all 16 to 18 year-olds as part of the main programme.
There are many opportunities to participate in trips to places such as Harry Potter World, Drayton Manor, and Blackpool Hair and Beauty competitions.
Practical elements of the course will be assessed in our state-of-the-art salons on the fifth floor within the college. You will be assessed on a service portfolio (coalition of learner’s work throughout the course). Practical exams make up 50% of the grade for each unit studied. There are two exams that are completed online with the opportunity to retake a second time if required. All exams are marked externally by the awarding body and make up 30% of the grade. A practical synoptic exam equates to 20% of the final grade which will be Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction *.
You can progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty, general massage route. You could also progress to a Level 2 Hairdressing or Nails course, or upskill by studying one of our specialised short courses. You could also gain employment in beauty salons as a therapist or become self-employed and set up your own mobile beauty business.
