
This course would suit school leavers who want a career in animal care.
No formal qualifications are needed to apply for this course.
The course involves one full day a week on placement at Forge Mill Farm and three days in college.
You'll study the following modules:
Health and Safety
Assist with the care of animals
Principles of care of animals
Principles of accommodation
Assist with accommodation
Assist with the movement and handling of farm animals
Principles of handling and moving farm animals
Principles of dealing with food stuff for small animals
Assist with feed stuffs for small animals
Visits will be arranged to places such as Chester Zoo, London Zoo, Birmingham Dogs’ Home, Crufts, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Proteus Reptile Trust.
Practical observation, photo evidence and written work.
You can progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care.
