This qualification provides basic level skills and knowledge that could lead to further education in IT or related areas, as well as underpinning other educational sectors. It can offer you the opportunity to move into your first job role, the confidence to work effectively with ICT and deal with tasks that are straightforward or routine.
You will need five GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, or an equivalent Level 2 qualification.
This qualification offers you a range of multidisciplinary units covering not only the core topic of IT but also business and admin. The course meets local IT employer demands.

IT Security for Users
Using Collaborative Technologies
Computing students get involved in a range of varied activities as part of their course, from organising gameathons to creating and editing their own magazine. The course offers trips to Disneyland Paris, residential trips to London as well as amusement parks. Successful learners are also recognised for their hard work at a special departmental award ceremony at the end of the year.
Projects and exams are based on real life work situations using a variety of software and transferable skills that you would then be able to apply in future employment.
Grades for each unit are awarded according to a grading scale of Fail, Pass, Credit/Merit and Distinction.
This qualification enables you to gain a range of skills and knowledge in the use of IT applications or use of IT equipment that can prepare you to enter the IT sector, a specific job role or lead to an apprenticeship or further learning either within the workplace or with a training provider.
It also enables you to progress to the Digital Production, Design and Development T-level qualification.
