National Apprenticeship Week 2026

We are proud to work with over 1,000 employers to deliver apprenticeships and work placements that create real opportunities and long-term careers. Each year, we support hundreds of apprentices, helping people of all ages earn, learn and progress.

National Apprenticeship Week 2026 is our opportunity to celebrate the people, partnerships and pathways that make apprenticeships work, for individuals, employers and our region.

Skills for Life

Through hands-on experience and the right support, Ife developed confidence, resilience and real-world skills that employers value.

As a Sandwell College apprentice, he gained practical experience in the workplace while working towards a recognised qualification – learning how to problem-solve, communicate effectively and adapt in a professional environment.

His journey shows that apprenticeships don’t just lead to careers.
They build skills for life — opening doors, creating opportunities, and supporting learners to achieve their full potential.

Employer Tuesday - building skills and diversifying the workforce

Apprenticeships are playing a vital role in helping employers tackle skills gaps, future-proof their workforce and create more inclusive opportunities – just like Doocey.

Hear from Kirstie Stuart, Group HR & Support Services Director at Doocey, as she explains how apprenticeships have supported workforce planning, helped address the challenges of an ageing workforce, and enabled the business to attract and develop new talent. Want to work with us? Discover more.

You’ll also hear from Rhiannon, a Doocey apprentice, who shares her experience of learning on the job, developing industry-specific skills and building confidence through her apprenticeship.

Together, their stories highlight how apprenticeships benefit both employers and learners, strengthening teams, creating progression routes and building skills for the future.

Apprentice Wednesday - Why an apprenticeship was the perfect option for me?

For Rhea, choosing an apprenticeship meant learning in a real dental practice while gaining the confidence and practical experience needed to succeed in a professional healthcare environment.

As a Dental Nurse Apprentice, Rhea develops industry-specific skills every day, from supporting patients and clinicians to understanding the standards and responsibilities of working in a clinical setting. With the support of her employer and Sandwell College tutors, she’s able to apply what she learns straight away, building knowledge through hands-on experience.

Her apprenticeship has given her a clear pathway into the profession, helping her grow in confidence, develop essential workplace skills and prepare for the next steps in her career.

Rhea’s journey shows how apprenticeships combine learning, earning and real-world experience – creating opportunities that lead to long-term success. Discover your next steps – view our apprenticeship vacancies today

Opportunity Thursday – 360 moment!

Hear from Paul, Head of Operations at Carwood, as he shares his journey from starting out as an apprentice to now supporting and developing others across the business.

Paul explains how apprenticeships create real opportunities, not just as an entry route into work, but as a pathway for long-term progression, skills development and career growth. His story highlights how investing in apprenticeships helps individuals build confidence, ambition and industry-ready skills that evolve over time.

By developing talent from within, Carwood continues to strengthen its workforce, retain skills and support future leaders. Paul’s experience shows how apprenticeships open doors, create opportunity and lead to lasting careers, benefiting both people and businesses alike.
