The Level 2 Diploma in Engineering – Electrical and Electronics Technology is a foundational course designed to equip you with essential knowledge and practical skills in electrical and electronic engineering. This qualification focuses on hands-on experience in engineering workshop environments, covering key industry principles.

Prospective students are generally required to have:

· Four GCSEs, including Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above, plus two other relevant subjects at Grade 3 or above.

· Alternatively, Level 1 qualification in a related field may also be considered.

This diploma combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, covering:

Core Units:

· Working in engineering

· Principles of engineering technology

· Principles of electrical and electronics technology

Optional Units:

· Maintaining electrical wiring support systems

· Maintaining electrical equipment and systems

· Wiring and testing electrical circuits

· Constructing, testing, and fault-finding electronic circuits

Assessment is conducted through a combination of:

· Online multiple-choice tests for certain units

· Written examinations for ‘Principles of’ units

· Practical assignments for optional units

Upon successful completion, students can progress to:

· Advance Your Studies: Move on to Level 3 Diploma in Engineering

· Start an Apprenticeship: Apprenticeships in electrical or electronic engineering

· Enter the Workforce: Employment in roles like electrical technician, maintenance engineer, or similar positions

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The course often includes enrichment activities such as:

· A minimum of 30 hours of work experience

· Guest speakers from the industry

· Visits to local companies and engineering exhibitions

These experiences aim to enhance students’ understanding of the engineering sector and provide valuable industry insights.
