This apprenticeship is aimed at those aspiring to work in the construction industry. It is a great introduction to work, providing you with opportunities to develop your knowledge, understanding, personal and practical skills in the field of Painting and Decorating.
You will need the Painting & Decorating NVQ Level 1 or the City & Guilds Basic Skills Certificate in Painting & Decorating.
You will attend college one day per week and spend four days in the workplace. While in the workplace, you will gain the practical experience, skills and knowledge necessary to start a rewarding career in a sector that has rising demand for skilled tradespeople. While at College, you will study for a Level 2 qualification, which covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the sector.
Assessment will be through a combination of coursework, observation and examination in college and within the workplace. Your progress on the course will be regularly monitored by your assessor.
As well as direct employment, successful apprentices often go on to complete an Advanced Apprenticeship, once they have gained more experience in work.
