Level 3 Dental Nursing Advanced Apprenticeship

Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll gain expertise in:

• Dental Anatomy & Physiology: Understanding oral structures, as well as the respiratory and circulatory systems.
• Infection Control: Learning about disease transmission, sterilisation procedures, and decontamination protocols.
• Radiography: Grasping the principles of dental imaging, including safe handling and processing of radiographs.
• Health & Safety: Comprehending legislation and best practices related to dental materials and workplace safety.
• Communication Skills: Developing effective verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, ensuring patient confidentiality and consent.
• Ethical & Legal Responsibilities: Familiarising yourself with GDC standards, safeguarding policies, and patient care ethics.
• Medical Emergencies: Recognising and responding to emergencies, including proficiency in first aid and CPR.

You’ll also acquire hands-on skills such as:

• Chairside Assistance: Supporting dentists during various procedures, including restorative and surgical treatments.
• Material Preparation: Mixing and handling dental materials in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines.
• Patient Care: Monitoring and reassuring patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding throughout treatments.
• Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
• Infection Prevention: Implementing and managing effective infection control measures within the clinical environment.
• Radiograph Processing: Assisting in the acquisition and processing of dental radiographs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
