What are T Levels?
T Levels are two-year technical qualifications developed with employers to ensure students gain the skills and knowledge needed for their chosen industry. They are equivalent to three A Levels and combine classroom learning with practical experience, preparing students for skilled employment, apprenticeships, or further study.

Who is this course for?
This T Level is designed for learners aged 16-19 who wish to develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of engineering, manufacturing, process and control occupations.

Course Structure:

  • 80% Classroom Learning – Students study 14 core topic areas relevant to the Engineering and Manufacturing industry.

  • 20% Industry Placement – A minimum of 45 days on placement with an employer to gain on-the-job technical skills.

Five GCSEs at grades 9-4, including English, Maths (Higher) and Science.

The course is divided into two main parts:

1. Core Content: This provides a broad understanding of the engineering and manufacturing industries, covering topics such as:

· Engineering principles

· Materials science

· Quality control

· Health and safety

· Business and commercial awareness

2. Specialist Areas: Machining and Toolmaking, including:

· Use of CNC and manual machining technologies.

· Creating and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

· Producing precision components using advanced manufacturing techniques.

· Quality control and testing to meet industry standards.

INDUSTRY PLACEMENT:

A key part of the T Level is a mandatory industry placement lasting at least 45 days (315 hours). This gives you hands-on experience, allowing you to apply what you’ve learned in a real-world setting and develop valuable industry contacts.

Please get in touch for more information.

Your progress will be evaluated through a combination of:

· Exams: Two externally marked exams covering the core engineering knowledge.

· Employer Set Project: A project designed in collaboration with employers to solve real industry problems, demonstrating your skills and knowledge.

· Practical Assignments: Assessing your ability to apply knowledge in real-world scenarios within your chosen specialism. This is observed and moderated by external assessors

After completing the T Level, you can:

· Start working in roles like engineering technician, manufacturing technician, machinist, welder, or fabricator.

· Begin a higher-level apprenticeship in engineering or manufacturing.

· Continue your studies in higher education, as T Levels carry UCAS points equivalent to three A Levels.
