As part of T Level Week, we’re celebrating Trailblazers Tuesday with the success of our students and the opportunities that T Levels can create. Rosie, one of our former Health student has shared how the qualification helped her gain confidence, develop practical skills and take the next step towards a career in nursing. Rosie also won the Celebrating Excellence award at our student awards last year, recognising her achievements and success during her time at the College.
When Rosie first enrolled on the T Level in Health, there were some uncertainties about choosing a relatively new qualification. However, those concerns soon disappeared as she discovered the benefits of a course that combines classroom learning with valuable industry experience.
“The course blends theory and practical learning really well,” Rosie said. “The placement element gives you real exposure to the healthcare sector and allows you to develop skills that are difficult to gain through classroom study alone.”
Through her industry placement, she built essential patient care and communication skills, gaining early experience that helped prepare her for higher education. The hands-on learning opportunities also gave her a clear insight into working in healthcare and reinforced her ambition to pursue a nursing career.
Rosie credits the support of College staff as a key factor in their success.
“The last few weeks of my course weren’t the easiest for me, but the support and guidance I received from my tutors and the College made all the difference,” she explained.
By combining academic study with meaningful workplace experience, the T Level helped her grow in confidence and develop practical healthcare skills beyond what she thought possible.
“The course confirmed my passion for nursing and helped me feel prepared for the future,” she said.
Rosie has now progressed to an Adult Nursing degree at Birmingham Newman University, taking the next step towards a rewarding career in healthcare.
Rosie’s story highlights how T Levels are helping students gain the knowledge, experience and confidence needed to succeed in higher education and industry, making them an increasingly popular pathway for young people looking to build their future careers.
