One of our successful Public Services alumni, Haydar, recently returned to inspire the next generation of Sandwell College learners with his own university and career journey.
Haydar left Sandwell College last year with a Distinction in Level 3 Extended Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services.
He is now working as a first responder for Immediate Care Medical Services and studying a BSc in Professional Policing at Birmingham Newman University.
Proud to share his journey from Level 3 study into university and employment, Haydar gave students the chance to see inside a 999 frontline ambulance and the life-saving equipment used in everyday emergencies. Learners also benefited from hands-on experiences, checking blood pressure and understanding how emergency situations are structured and managed in real-life scenarios.
Haydar said: “This was an amazing day where I was able to expand the students’ knowledge of working with the private ambulance sector and the work we do. It was nostalgic going back, this time not as a student but as an alumni, a proud first responder and guest speaker to show the students my journey from Day 1 in College to now working.”
Head of Section for Public Services & Travel, Neil Parker, said: “Haydar’s session offered real insight into the commitment, resilience, and skills needed to succeed in the emergency care sector. The session was both inspiring and informative, encouraging our Level 3 learners to stay focused, work hard, and recognise the opportunities ahead.”
