On Wednesday 16th September, Sandwell College were proud to host ‘Ask The Mayor Anything’ on behalf of the West Midlands Combined Authority and the West Midlands Mayor, providing an opportunity for Black Country residents and employers to put Richard Parker in the spotlight – talking about his priorities and ambitions for the West Midlands.
Our CEO & Principal Lisa Capper MBE chaired the live-streamed event which took a Question Time-style format to ensure everyone had their voice heard, with themes set out against the priorities of jobs, journeys, growth and homes for everyone. Students from across The Sandwell Colleges were in the audience and shone brightly with several of our Politics and Public Services learners taking the floor and asking the Mayor:
– How is he ensuring the West Midlands provides them with the right opportunities to encourage them to stay after college or university
– How can a young person make a big impact in the West Midlands… and even the entire country
– What one piece of advice would he give to every young person in the West Midlands
– What investments are there in public sector roles to ensure the opportunities are available for young people wanting careers in these services
Visitors to the event also enjoyed hearing more about the colleges and the various apprenticeships and adult skills courses we offer.
Our learners thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet the Mayor and to engage in conversations that influence the future of our region and the opportunities available to them.
