We were delighted to welcome back Travel & Tourism alumna Phoebe, who is now pursuing an exciting career as cabin crew with Ryanair.
Phoebe returned to Sandwell College to share her journey with our current learners, offering valuable insights into a day in the life of cabin crew, what to expect from the role, and how her time at college helped prepare her for a successful career in the aviation industry.
Reflecting on her experience, Phoebe said: “College definitely helped me a lot, especially with my confidence. I came to college timid and kept to myself, and left full of confidence. It gave me the skills to communicate with people from different cultures and backgrounds, which is so important in my career.”
Having travelled to destinations including Stockholm, Rhodes and Barcelona, Phoebe is now enjoying the exciting opportunities that come with working in the airline industry.
Her advice to students?
“Build your confidence. Have it, embrace it and don’t be shy with it.”
Phoebe also highlighted the wide range of opportunities available through the sector: “Travel & Tourism doesn’t just lead to cabin crew roles. It opens doors to many careers within aviation and travel, while giving you key people skills that you can use throughout your life. The staff here are absolutely amazing. I highly recommend coming to Sandwell College to study Travel & Tourism.”
Thank you, Phoebe, for inspiring the next generation of Travel & Tourism professionals. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved and look forward to seeing where your career takes you next.
