This Health and Safety in the Workplace Award has been designed to provide essential knowledge and understanding of health and safety for employees working in any sector of business. It replaces the Foundation Certificate in Health & Safety. Under health and safety legislation employers are required to provide training for their staff.

There are two parts to this Health and Safety in the Workplace course, which normally takes six hours to complete, with additional time for breaks.

Part 1 is an Introduction to Health and Safety at Work.

Part 2 covers Workplace Specific Health and Safety, including:

  • Risk Assessment
  • Manual Handling
  • Hazardous Substances
  • Ergonomics and Workstation Design
  • Working at Heights
  • Transport and Vehicles
  • Noise and Vibration
  • Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences (RIDDOR)

Assessment of the Health and Safety in the Workplace Award is by multiple choice exam paper, with a required pass mark of 20 out of 30 questions. Successful candidates will receive a certificate issued by the Institute of Environmental Health.
