This Level 2 Technical Occupational Entry in Leading Community Activity (Diploma) is ideal if you are considering a career in community coaching or sport leadership, and you are interested in promoting physical activity and well-being in your local communities.

You will develop your practical leadership skills in sport and active leisure environments, gaining industry-relevant experience and knowledge. So, if you enjoy working with people and want to encourage others to be more active – particularly in community or grassroots settings – and you want a hands-on, coursework-based qualification with no exams, focused on employability and real-world application, this course is for you.

You should have a minimum of one GCSE at Grade 3 or above in a related subject, English or Maths, or a BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Sport.

The Level 2 Technical Occupational Entry in Leading Community Activity (Diploma) qualification comprises four mandatory units:

1. Working in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry (120 Guided Learning Hours) – Understanding the sector and its impact on communities

2. Roles and Responsibilities of a Community Activity Leader (60 Guided Learning Hours) – Developing leadership skills and understanding the importance of being a positive role model

3. Planning and Promoting Community Activities (60 Guided Learning Hours) – Designing inclusive activities and effective promotion strategies

4. Working as a Community Activity Leader (120 Guided Learning Hours) – Practical application of skills in leading community activities and events

Each unit focuses on gaining practical skills and applying knowledge to prepare you for real-world scenarios.

  • Trips to Wolf Mountain Activity Centre to participate in rock climbing, archery, bouldering, mountain biking, and abseiling
  • Additional coaching qualifications
  • Play and train for West Bromwich Albion Foundation
  • Use of West Bromwich Leisure Centre
  • Talks from industry professionals
  • Volunteer opportunities

The Level 2 Technical Occupational Entry in Leading Community Activity (Diploma) is 100% internally assessed through practical and written assignments.

On successful completion of this Level 2 Technical Occupational Entry in Leading Community Activity (Diploma) course, you can:

  • Enter employment in roles such as community activity leader or sports activator
  • Progress to a Level 3 apprenticeship, such as Community Sport and Health Officer
  • Advance to further education in related fields

This qualification is endorsed by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), ensuring it meets industry standards and provides a licence to practise in relevant roles.
