The Level 2 Diploma in Care is a comprehensive qualification designed for learners aiming to develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to work in clinical healthcare support or adult care settings. This course provides a strong foundation for a rewarding career in the health and social care sector.

Learners will study a combination of mandatory and optional units, with the core units focusing on essential areas such as communication, safeguarding, person-centred care, and health and safety. Optional units give learners the flexibility to tailor their learning to specific interests or workplace roles, helping them gain relevant, real-world experience.

You’ll need GCSE Maths and English at Grade 2 or Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 1.

As part of the course, students will explore topics such as:

  • Communication and information handling

  • Safeguarding and protection

  • Health, safety and wellbeing

  • Equality, inclusion, and person-centred approaches

  • Responsibilities and personal development in care

In addition, learners will engage in enriching activities and workshops that enhance employability and understanding of the care sector, including:

  • NHS Cadets / St John Ambulance

  • Portfolio development

  • Moving and handling

  • Dementia Friends

  • Mental health awareness

  • Volunteering

  • Drug & alcohol awareness

  • Healthcare roles and environments

  • CV writing, communication skills, and active listening

To maintain a professional environment and prepare for the workplace, wearing a mandatory uniform is required throughout the course.

This qualification is ideal for those looking to begin or progress in roles such as healthcare assistant, support worker, or care assistant in a wide range of care settings.

Healthcare students get involved in a range of activities as part of their course, from organising gameathons to creating and editing their own magazine. Other activities our students get involved in are:
