This Level 2 Certificate in Cutting Hair is an assessment-based course designed for learners who have successfully completed a Level 1 Hair and Beauty qualification in their first term. It serves as a valuable bridging course between Level 1 and full Level 2 programmes.
This course focuses on developing core cutting techniques and practical salon skills, using professional tools and industry-standard methods.

This qualification is designed to boost both your practical abilities and industry knowledge, giving you a solid foundation for progression to Level 2 Hairdressing and enhancing your employability in the sector.
This course is fully funded for students aged 16–18
Students will need to purchase a kit, but bursary support may be available if you’re eligible.
A uniform will be provided by the department, you’ll just need to buy appropriate footwear.

Capital Hair and Beauty – Skill-boosting workshops with opportunities for extra certification, including bridal hair styling
Studex Ear Piercing – Gain an additional qualification in ear piercing through employer-led training
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust – Real-world work experience in the Wellbeing Centre Salon, offering services to NHS staff
Formative and summative assessment via practical observations based on individual performance to assess the level of competency.
Theory knowledge is assessed via multiple-choice online exams and/or assignments and work packs. All exams are marked externally by the awarding body, and your final grade will be a Pass.
Practical demonstrations and knowledge sessions will be provided to prepare for assessments and exams.
