The Level 2 Certificate in Cosmetic Make-Up is an assessment-based qualification designed for learners who have successfully completed Level 1 Hair and Beauty in their first term. Acting as a bridging course between Level 1 and Level 2, this programme is perfect for students ready to take their next steps in the beauty industry.

This course focuses on the imaginative and practical application of make-up, giving learners the opportunity to explore artistic techniques and build industry-relevant skills.

Using professional products and tools, you’ll develop the technical knowledge and confidence to apply make-up for a variety of looks and occasions, while also gaining essential client care and consultation skills.

This course is designed to boost your practical ability and employability, setting you up for progression onto a full Level 2 qualification or a future career in beauty therapy and make-up artistry.

· Holds a Level 1 Hair and Beauty qualification

· GCSE Grade 3 or above in English and Maths, ESOL or Functional Skills Level 1.

What You’ll Learn:

You’ll study a range of exciting units, including:

Follow Health and Safety Practice in the Salon
Client Care and Communication
Apply Make-Up
Instruction on Make-Up
Provide Lash and Brow Treatments
Optional: Eyelash Lifting

Costs:

This course is fully funded for students aged 16–18
Students will need to purchase a kit, but bursary support may be available if you’re eligible.
A uniform will be provided by the department, you’ll just need to buy appropriate footwear.

Formative and summative assessment via practical observations based on individual performance to assess the level of competency.

Theory knowledge is assessed via multiple-choice online exams and/or assignments and work packs. All exams are marked externally by the awarding body, and your final grade will be a Pass.

Practical demonstrations and knowledge sessions will be provided to prepare for assessments and exams.

Once completed, learners will be qualified to work as a beautician in a salon or can progress onto the following courses to further their career opportunities;

· Level 2 Diploma in Beauty

· Level 2 Diploma in Nails

· Level 2 Diploma in Barbering

· Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing

Career pathways include the following;

· Beauty salons

· Self- employed Beautician

· Cruise ships

· Representative for product brand
