This Level 2 Extended Certificate in Production Arts course is aimed at school leavers who wish to work in theatre/performance venues in a technical capacity.

You’ll need four GCSEs at Grade 2/E or above, including English, or you’ll need to have successfully completed the Level 1 Diploma or equivalent.

The Level 2 Extended Certificate in Production Arts course recognises the technical skills, knowledge and understanding needed to work within the Performing Arts/Entertainment industries. It will allow you to develop your technical skills and give you an in-depth understanding of the importance of the technical team. You will gain practical experience in a wide range of college productions such as pantomimes, dance shows, fashion shows and plays. You may also have the chance to do work experience.

Students have opportunities to see professional performances in the West End as well as locally. You also have the opportunity to engage with community and local authority organisations.

You will be assessed through a mixture of coursework and practical work. Learning methods include practical workshops, theatre productions, private study, tutorials, theatre visits and class work.

After completing this Level 2 Extended Certificate in Production Arts course, you can progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Production Arts Practice.
