What are T Levels?
T Levels are two-year technical qualifications developed with employers to ensure students gain the skills and knowledge needed for their chosen industry. They are equivalent to three A Levels and combine classroom learning with practical experience, preparing students for skilled employment, apprenticeships, or further study.

Who is this course for?
This T Level is designed for learners aged 16-19 who wish to work in the construction industry, specifically in surveying and design, civil engineering, building services design, or hazardous materials surveying.

Course Structure:

  • 80% Classroom Learning – Students study 14 core topic areas relevant to the Construction industry.

  • 20% Industry Placement – A minimum of 45 days on placement with an employer to gain on-the-job technical skills.

 

You should have 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Maths and English

You will study core components in the first year then in the second year you can choose from the Occupational Specialisms.

Core component (Year 1)

Topics include;
• Health and safety
• Measurement
• Building technology
• Construction mathematical techniques
• Design
• Construction and the built environment industry
• Sustainability
• Project management

Occupational specialism (Year 2)

Topics include:
• Measure the built environment
• Analyse the built environment
• Design the built environment
• Verify delivery of the built environment

Industrial placement
• 315 hours of industrial placement
• Taster sessions delivered by employers
• Hands-on industry experience at an employer’s company

Activities are linked to employers, such as site visits. You will also benefit from a work readiness programme to develop your essential skills.

Civil engineering technician
Technical surveyor
Building technician
Building control officer
Town planning assistant
Geospatial technician
