This qualification is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) needed to develop competence in digital support roles across a range of industries.

Through a combination of seven mandatory units and one specialist pathway unit, learners will gain a deep understanding of productivity software, digital information systems, and how they are used to support and maintain software applications. The course also covers troubleshooting techniques, enabling learners to identify and resolve software issues effectively.

Ideal for those looking to gain hands-on technical experience, this course blends theory with practical lab-based activities. Learners will develop a strong assessment portfolio, reinforcing core skills such as communication, teamwork, problem solving, research, and critical thinking — all essential for progression into further study, apprenticeships, or employment in digital and IT support roles.

Five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above.

Vocational Tech Award qualification(s) at Level 2 Merit and above in a relevant subject, e.g. BTEC Tech Award in Digital Information Technology.

Computing students get involved in a range of activities as part of their course, from organising gameathons to creating and editing their own magazine. Other activities our students get involved in are:

This qualification is internally assessed and consists of one component, which is an internally assessed portfolio of evidence. Learners must be successful in this component to gain the Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry in Digital Support (Diploma).
