This introductory course is ideal for individuals who want to explore the world of Information Technology, from using everyday application software to working with specialist development platforms such as web development and digital media production. The course follows a flexible, unit-based structure that builds both transferable skills and sector-specific knowledge, providing a solid foundation for further study or training.

At Level 1, learners will develop essential progression skills including problem solving, communication, and research. These skills are embedded across engaging units assessed through a mix of assignments and practical tasks. Students will gain hands-on experience by creating web pages, animations, and spreadsheets, as well as designing products and working on mini projects. These activities encourage teamwork and help boost confidence, supporting learners at every step of their journey.

GCSEs at Grade 2/E or above and an appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy, or an appropriate entry-level qualification.

Computing students get involved in a range of activities as part of their course, from organising gameathons to creating and editing their own magazine. Other activities our students get involved in are:
