This qualification is designed to support your return to study and help you develop the skills needed to progress to Level 3 courses in Health or Social Care or pursue employment opportunities in health and social care. It will also help you gain confidence in your own ability to study and progress. You will need to have a genuine interest in Health and Social Care. Vocational experience would be of benefit but is not mandatory.

You are required to attend an interview to ensure that you will be able to cope with the academic requirements of the course. This will include a numeracy and literacy assessment.
There is no mandatory placement within the course, however, it would be beneficial for you to have either paid or voluntary work experience in your chosen area to support your studies on the course.

The course will be 2 full days per week which will include the vocational qualification plus Maths and English.
Learning is assessed by a variety of methods to prepare you to study at Level 3. These include written assignments, work booklets, presentations and tutor observation. All of the assessment criteria in a unit must be met before the unit is deemed to be achieved. The unit achievement is not graded; units are either achieved or not achieved.
You will be assigned a Personal Tutor who will support you throughout your period of study and you will complete a ‘Steps to Success’ portfolio to enable progression by setting professional and personal targets.
Many of our Level 2 learners progress to Level 3 and beyond.
