This Level 1 course is ideal for you if you have creative interests in art/photography and fashion and you want to explore your art and design skills with the expertise of our visual arts tutors.
You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 3–1 (D–G), including English Language and Maths at grades 3-1 (D–G), or a relevant Entry 3 vocational qualification and you will also be asked to sit an Initial Assessment. The Initial Assessment must show that you are ready to study English and Maths at Level Entry 3/ Level 1.
You will be invited to an informal interview at College with an Art and Design tutor, where we ask you to bring evidence of artwork you have done at school or in your own time.
On this course you’ll learn the different aspects of art and design, through practical sessions which will give you skills in drawing, painting, photography, print-making and textiles. You will participate in mini projects and assignments throughout the year to develop your broader skills in being organised, teamwork, communication and career planning.
All students will continue weekly studies of English and Maths (Functional Skills or GCSE) as part of the Programme of Study, at a relevant level.
Assessment is through ongoing projects and practical work, with feedback to support your achievement and progression.
You can progress to our Level 2 courses in your chosen area.
