This is an assessment-based qualification to develop your practical skills to provide an effective hair cutting service for clients. It is suitable for adults who wish to upskill their own professional development, and for full-time learners aged 16-18 who are studying Beauty Therapy or Nail Technology.
You will need to have GCSE Grade 3 or above in English and Maths, or ESOL at Level 1 or equivalent.

There are a range of in-house and external competitions you could enter.
Practical elements of the course will be assessed in our state-of-the-art salons, and you'll be required to produce a portfolio of your work throughout the course. There are three exams which are externally marked, and all practical work will be logged in your VTCT assessment book.
You can progress on a hairdressing or beauty pathway, studying a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy or Nail Technology. You can also study any of our other short courses to develop your skills. Future career opportunities include employment in hair salons or self-employment running your own mobile business.
