
This course is for those who currently work as a mentor, those who are interested in becoming a mentor or those who support others in some capacity. Through the course you will: • Gain insight into the role and practice of mentorship • Develop clarity about mentor/mentee relationships • Understand and develop good practice • Develop the specific skills and understanding needed to become a mentor • Understand the benefits of mentoring and understand some of the legal and ethical mentoring requirements. No formal requirements but an interview a member of the Teacher Education team is required. A good level of written and spoken English must be demonstrated at interview.
This qualification allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the role of a mentor and to develop the skills needed to become an effective mentor.
The course is portfolio based and all work will be submitted online. Students will cover the following units:
• The Role of a Mentor
• Preparing for the Role of a Mentor
• Demonstrating Mentoring Skills and Techniques
The course costs £150 but concessions may apply.
Assessment will be by portfolio, assignments and practical mentoring activities.
