This course is for those who currently work as a mentor, those who are interested in becoming a mentor or those who support others in some capacity. Through the course you will: • Gain insight into the role and practice of mentorship • Develop clarity about mentor/mentee relationships • Understand and develop good practice • Develop the specific skills and understanding needed to become a mentor • Understand the benefits of mentoring and understand some of the legal and ethical mentoring requirements. We offer September and January start dates, and the course runs every Thursday evening, 5pm -8pm.
There are no formal entry requirements, but a good level of written and spoken English must be demonstrated.
This qualification allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the role of a mentor and to develop the skills needed to become an effective mentor.
The units students will cover will be:
• The role of a Mentor
• Preparing for the Role of a Mentor
• Demonstrating Mentoring Skills and Techniques
Assessment will be by portfolio, assignments and practical mentoring activities.
Level 2 Certificate in Counselling or Level 3 Diploma in Counselling subject to interview
