The 14-week Entry Level 3 course builds on earlier learning to develop solid maths skills needed in everyday life, work, and further education. You will work on number operations, measures, data handling and more advanced practical maths — helping you gain the confidence to tackle real-life maths tasks independently. Delivered at Cradley Heath Skills Campus, the course offers a supportive and friendly environment in a modern adult learning setting.

Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for adults (19+) who want to:

  • Strengthen their maths skills beyond basic number work
  • Work with larger numbers, measurements, decimals, money and data confidently
  • Prepare for further study, work, or everyday tasks needing sound maths knowledge
  • Take the next step in their numeracy development in a supportive environment
  • No prior maths qualifications are required.
  • You must be aged 19+
  • No previous maths qualifications are required.

Over 14 weeks, you’ll cover a broad range of mathematics content, including:

  • Working with whole numbers up to 1,000 — addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rounding and number sequences
  • Using decimals, fractions, money calculations and measures (length, weight, capacity, time) with confidence and accuracy
  • Reading and interpreting data from tables, charts and diagrams; using data to solve practical problems
  • Applying maths to realistic, everyday contexts: shopping, budgeting, measuring, time management, planning and problem-solving
  • Teaching happens in small groups, with tutor support, practical exercises and real-life maths tasks to help you apply what you learn.

By studying at Cradley Heath Skills Campus you’ll benefit from:

  • A modern, purpose-built adult learning environment — one of the newest campuses in the West Midlands
  • A supportive, experienced team dedicated to helping adult learners improve their skills
  • Being part of Sandwell College — the number one college group for student achievement in the West Midlands
  • A friendly community of learners — ideal for building confidence and preparing for further study or work

Classes run twice weekly (Tuesdays and Thursdays – 12:30pm-2:30pm). Assessment is through practical, task-based assignments rather than traditional exams, ensuring you can demonstrate your maths in real-life scenarios.

After finishing Entry Level 3, you could:

  • Progress into Level 1 Functional Skills Mathematics or other adult learning pathways
  • Use your stronger maths knowledge for employment, further training or everyday tasks
  • Combine maths with other adult courses at Cradley Heath, enhancing work readiness or study prospects.
