Do you want to feel more confident recognising and supporting positive mental health, for yourself and others? This four-week introductory course explores the foundations of mental well-being, common signs of mental health challenges and simple strategies to support resilience in everyday life.

Designed for adults returning to study or those simply wanting to understand mental health more clearly, the course offers a safe and supportive space to learn, talk and build confidence.

Delivered at Cradley Heath Skills Campus, this course is an excellent starting point for anyone considering a future in health, care, community roles or personal development.

Who is this course for?

Ideal for adults aged 19+ who want to:
• Understand the basics of mental health and well-being
• Learn simple strategies for managing stress
• Support themselves or others in everyday situations
• Explore health and social care career pathways
• Build confidence before progressing to further study

No previous experience required.

• You must be aged 19+
• Fully funded for most adults living in the West Midlands Combined Authority area

Across four weekly sessions, you’ll explore:
• What mental health and well-being mean
• Common signs of stress, anxiety and low mood
• Ways to promote resilience and self-care
• How to support conversations around mental health
• When and how to seek additional support

Learning is interactive, discussion-based and designed to build confidence.

Weekly classroom sessions. No exams, assessment is informal through activities, discussions and tutor feedback.
