You’ll learn how to prepare surfaces, apply paint correctly, use tools safely and complete decorative finishes to a professional standard. This course is ideal for those wanting more structured training after an introductory taster or adults looking to explore painting and decorating as a future career.

Delivered at Cradley Heath Skills Campus, one of the newest adult-learning facilities in the West Midlands, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a supportive, well-equipped workshop.

Who is this course for?

Ideal for adults aged 19+ who want to:
• Build confidence with painting and decorating techniques
• Learn trade-standard skills for home or future employment
• Prepare for Level 1 construction study
• Develop accuracy, attention to detail and practical ability
• Explore construction career pathways
No experience is necessary.

• You must be aged 19+
• Fully funded for most adults living in the West Midlands Combined Authority region

Across five weeks, you will explore:
• Preparing walls and surfaces
• Cutting-in, rolling and applying paint evenly
• Using brushes, rollers and decorating equipment safely
• Simple decorative techniques and finishes
• Workshop safety and professional standards

Learning is primarily practical, supported by tutor demonstration and guidance.
