This one-day practical course prepares you for the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) process, a key requirement for anyone wanting to access many construction sites or progress into entry-level employment in the industry.

Across the day, you’ll develop essential knowledge of health and safety principles, site hazards, personal responsibilities and safe working practices. This course is ideal for adults who have completed introductory or Entry Level 3 construction training and want to take their next step toward work.

Delivered at Cradley Heath Skills Campus, you’ll learn in a supportive setting designed for adults preparing for employment.

Who is this course for?

Ideal for adults aged 19+ who want to:
• Prepare for the CSCS card process
• Build understanding of safe working practices
• Take steps toward employment in construction
• Progress from beginner construction courses
• Gain essential safety awareness used across the industry

• You must be aged 19+
• Fully funded for eligible adults in the West Midlands Combined Authority region

During this full-day session, you will explore:
• Key health and safety principles within construction
• Understanding site hazards and safe working practices
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) and responsibilities on site
• Communication and behaviour expectations
• Preparing for the next steps toward gaining a CSCS card

Learning is delivered through tutor-led demonstrations, practical discussions and applied scenarios.

You may also progress toward the official CSCS test and entry-level construction employment, or move into wider adult learning including English, Digital or Employability.
