This Level 2 Diploma in Nail technology NVQ is an assessment-based qualification for school leavers and adults who wish to pursue a career in Nails. Once learners have completed this course, they will be Level 2 qualified and can start work as a foundation nail technician in a salon.
You will need GCSE Grade 3 or above in English and Maths, or ESOL or Functional Skills at Level 1.
This Level 2 Diploma is the main qualification for learners who wish to pursue a career in Nail technology and is aimed at school leavers and adults. The course will equip learners with the essential skills and knowledge required to be successful within the ever-growing industry.
Throughout the course, learners will also have the chance to enhance their practical and employability skills, deepen their understanding of the industry, and gain valuable experience through work placements or within our own Bliss Beauty salon.
The course consists of studying the following units:
· Following Health and Safety practices in the salon
· Develop and maintain effectiveness at work
· Manicure
· Pedicure
· Nail Art
· Apply and Maintain Nail Enhancements
· Reception Duties
· Promoting products and services
This course is funded for 16/to 18-year-olds. Adults who do not hold a Level 2 or are in receipt of benefits may be eligible for fees to be funded.
Students are required to purchase a kit, however, students can apply for a bursary to support the cost if eligible.
Uniform will be provided by the department but appropriate shoes will need to be purchased.

How You’ll Be Assessed
You’ll be assessed through a mix of practical observations and theory tests:
Practical Assessments: We’ll observe your individual performance to check your skills and competency.
Theory Assessments: These include multiple-choice online exams, assignments, and work packs. All exams are marked externally by the awarding body, and your final grade will be a Pass.
Support to Succeed: You’ll take part in practical demonstrations and knowledge sessions to help you prepare for assessments and exams with confidence.
Once you’ve completed this course, learners will be qualified to work as a foundation nail technician in a salon or can progress onto the following courses to further their career opportunities;
· Level 3 Diploma in Nails Technology- advanced
· Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Treatments- Massage and Electrical
· Level 2 Diploma in Barbering
· Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing
