This course, based at our brand new Cradley Heath Skills Campus, is designed for adult learners with learning difficulties who are beginning their journey into college life. It provides a supportive and structured environment to help learners develop the skills, confidence, and understanding needed to prepare for future employment.

The course is ideal if you:
– are aged 19 and over
– have additional learning needs or require extra support
– are looking to build essential life and work skills
– want to explore employment opportunities in a safe and encouraging setting
– need help with communication, teamwork, timekeeping, and workplace routines
– are working towards greater independence and self-confidence.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Course Aims:

  • To develop your personal, social, and communication skills
  • To introduce and explore the world of work in a practical and accessible way
  • To build employability skills such as teamwork, timekeeping, and problem-solving
  • To support you in identifying your strengths, interests, and career aspirations
  • To prepare learners for progression into employment, volunteering, or supported employment

You will study:
Entry 2 Award in Employability Skills
Entry 3 Award in Employability Skills

• Workplace visits and employer talks

• Life skills workshops – sessions focused on budgeting, cooking simple meals, using public transport, and managing appointments to build independence and confidence

• Volunteering projects

• Creative arts and wellbeing sessions

• Enterprise and fundraising events

You will be supported by tutors, LSAs and work placement officers with:

Portfolio work
Completion of portfolio
Completion of work placement

Work placements
Volunteering roles
Further personal development programmes
