The Supported Internship Pathway is designed to provide an exit route from education into employment for learners progressing from the Employability Pathway. The Supported Internship Pathway is individualised to consider both the learning needs and accommodations required for specific young people in a working environment and their own aspirations of finding paid work.
Students receive offsite support from their own allocated job coach and a personal tutor. The programme also allows learners to attend college twice a week to study a qualification relevant to their chosen vocational area and key identified areas of development and Maths and/or English at the appropriate level. The pathway is for 1 year with the view to learners being able to find sustained paid employment at the end of course.
The core aims of the programme include:
· 3 days a week onsite vocational work placement
· Support to develop the skills valued by employers
· Enabling learners to demonstrate their value in the workplace
· Developing confidence in own abilities to perform successfully at work.
This course is for young people with an EHCP – up to the age of 25 years old.
