The Lifelong Learning Pathway is an individualised study programmed aimed at meeting the education, social, sensory and support needs of young people with complex needs, on a 1-year basis. This provision is available for three consecutive years. Learners have access to purpose built sensory and support facilities with specialist training and equipment for staff members to meet their complex needs.
The pathway follows a nurturing model, taking a holistic approach to the curriculum. All classes for the pathway take place in the same learning space to enable repetition and continuity. Learners will also have access to work experience based on their own choices at the beginning, as well as opportunities to access the local community to further their impendence skills.
The core aims of the programme include:
· Developing communication skills and relationships
· Making choices
· Being part of a community
· Developing skills including cooking, household skills, employability skills, gaining work experience, personal care skills.
This course is for young people 16-18 and young people with an EHCP – up to the age of 25 years old.
