The Executive Functioning Pathway is specifically designed to support the needs both academically and socially of learners who present as having social engagement and communication needs, but who also have academic functioning levels at level 1 and above in Maths and/or English. Learners entering this pathway will typically have completed year 1 of Independence and have been identified as requiring specific support relating to their communication and/or social engagement.

Learners in this pathway will have SEND needs and possibly a confirmed or suggested diagnosis of ASD as detailed in theirEHCP. This pathway is 1-2 years in length and learners typically will progress onto the Employment Pathway or Independence Pathways to specifically look at appropriate transition from FE.

This course is for young people aged 16-18 and young people with an EHCP – up to the age of 25 years old.

No formal entry requirements.

The core aims of the pathway include:

· Attention and focus

· Organisation and planning

· Flexible thinking

· Social and emotional awareness

· Task initiation

 

Gateway units in progression, identified to meet your own learning needs.

Facilities include:

Accessible teaching rooms, including an independent living flat and accessible kitchen.

Work placements, community places of interest, Drayton Manor, Bowling. Careers fairs, specialist careers advice and guidance.

Holistic methods of assessment and portfolio building.

Tailored to your own individual requirements but can include employment, cross college provision, volunteering, further education and study programmes.
