Essential Digital Skills Qualifications are perfect if you have very few digital skills. You will learn the basics and become confident in using them, whether that’s communicating to loved ones or making sure you’re safe and confident to do your online shopping or banking. After learning the basics, you will have the option to take another course and improve your skills further. The course that proceeds the Level 1 would be the Essential Digital Skills Qualification at Level 2.

Our Essential Digital Skills course is for adults who want to study and improve their digital skills. You will build your skills in:

  • Using devices and handling information
  • Creating and editing
  • Communicating
  • Transactions and buying online
  • Being safe and responsible online

No prior knowledge, understanding, skills or qualifications are required before learners register for this qualification. However, learners having the following foundation skills before enrolling on the Level 1 qualification would be beneficial:

  • turning on a device (including entering and updating any account information safely, such as a password)
  • using the available controls on a device (such as a mouse and keyboard for a computer, or a touchscreen on a smartphone or tablet)
  • making use of accessibility tools (including assistive technology) to make devices easier to use (such as changing display settings to make content easier to read)
  • interacting with the home screen on a device
  • connecting to the internet (including Wi-Fi) safely and securely, and opening a browser
  • opening and accessing an application on a device

Pearson Level 1 in Essential Digital Skills is for learners who want to develop understanding and skills in digital. The qualification gives learners the opportunity to:

  • demonstrate the ability to develop manage and configure devices
  • apply knowledge and these skills to organise, share and manage files
  • become vigilant of online threats
  • achieve a Level 1 qualification will progress onto further study at Level 2.

Modules:

For learners who have a good understanding of digital skills. This course prepares you for work, volunteering, or further education. You’ll focus on these five skills:

Throughout the year, we take great pride in providing a diverse range of enrichment activities. These include:

  • Our One World event which celebrates different faiths and cultures
  • Residential trips
  • Day excursions to various UK cities
  • Theatre outings
  • Visits to local museums
  • Guest speakers covering topics like Sexual Health, Sports, Well-being, Finances, Safety and Volunteering.

Externally set, on-demand assessments, internally marked and externally verified. This course is formally assessed via examinations. The methods to assess these qualifications are holistic, interactive, and reflective of real life with relatable scenarios. Additionally, tutors will assess learners continuously throughout the academic year to best prepare learners for the formal exams.

After successful completion of Essential Digital Skills Level 1 learners can progress onto Essential Digital Skills Level 2 course and or other similar Digital/IT courses.
