This course, based at our brand new Cradley Heath Skills Campus, allows you to develop basic knowledge and understanding of the needs of young children, aged from birth to five years, in a variety of settings. The qualification also helps you to understand your role in supporting children’s development, from designing play activities to encouraging healthy eating.

 

Level 1 English and Maths

The qualification covers:
• healthy eating for children and planning and taking part in activities to encourage children to eat healthily
• supporting the provision of a safe learning environment for young children
• health and safety requirements and the importance of keeping all children safe from harm
• designing a range of play activities for young children aimed at their age and stage of development

To achieve the Level 1 Award you must achieve 5 mandatory units:
• Unit 01 Encouraging children to eat healthily
• Unit 02 Create a safe environment for young children
• Unit 03 Working in a team
• Unit 04 Contribute to equality of opportunity in support of young children’s development
• Unit 05 Provide a range of appropriate play activities for young children.
