Are you looking for an opportunity to earn while you learn? Then an apprenticeship could be for you! Apprenticeships at Sandwell College are a fantastic way to gain training and achieve nationally recognised qualifications whilst also earning a salary.

Students will be either paid National Minimum Apprenticeship wage or more, depending on the employer.

We offer a structured training programme for those in employment who want to learn and we work with employers to recruit apprentices seeking an apprenticeship placement in Warehousing.

This course is ideal for:

  • School leavers looking to start a career in the Warehousing industry
  • Adults retraining or upskilling for Warehousing roles
  • Apprentices employed in a relevant trade seeking formal qualifications

This exciting apprenticeship will immerse you in the dynamic environment of a working warehouse. You’ll gain the practical skills and knowledge needed to handle goods efficiently, manage stock, and understand key storage and control systems that keep warehouses running smoothly.

To apply for this Level 2 Warehouse Operative Intermediate Apprenticeship, you will need:

  • to be aged 16 years or over
  • Maths and English at Level 1 (or willingness to work towards this as part of the apprenticeship)
  • Have an interest in this industry
  • Suitable interview and initial assessment results
  • Employment in a relevant role is essential

 

You’ll train in essential areas such as manual handling, health and safety, and the safe use of warehouse equipment — all crucial for working confidently and responsibly in busy settings. You’ll also develop vital teamwork, communication, planning, and organisational skills, making you a valuable asset to any employer.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll prepare for your End-Point Assessment (EPA) and work towards an industry-recognised certification that opens doors to a wide range of opportunities in warehousing and logistics.

  • Sustainability and Environmental Awareness
  • Preparing for End-Point Assessment

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Warehousing and Storage Skills
  • Functional Skills Maths Level 1
  • Functional Skills English Level 1
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
  • Apprenticeship Achievement Certificate
  • Industry talks from logistics professionals
  • Visit to a regional distribution centre
  • First Aid training workshop
  • Health and safety qualification add-on
  • Participation in National Apprenticeship Week events

You will be assesed by a number of methods:

  • Ongoing workplace observations
  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Practical demonstration
  • Knowledge tests (online/multiple-choice)
  • Final End-Point Assessment (EPA) including a professional discussion

On successful completion of this Level 2 Warehouse Operative Intermediate Apprenticeship, you can progress to:

  • Level 3 Team Leader / Supervisor Apprenticeship
  • Level 3 Supply Chain Practitioner Apprenticeship
  • Employment as a Senior Warehouse Operative
  • Internal promotion within the current workplace
