CMI Bitesize courses are flexible, practical learning journeys that learners can begin anytime, from anywhere. Alongside online content, learners benefit from personalised, one-to-one tutorial sessions to guide them through their studies. Each course is open for a full three months from registration and includes a complimentary three-month CMI membership—unlocking even more resources for professional growth.

These courses are for adult learners who are practising or aspiring middle or senior managers and leaders.  Learners on these courses are usually employed and work in a variety of management and leadership roles across a  range of organisations in the private, public and third sectors.

Unemployed learners with appropriate prior work experience and/or qualifications are also welcome to apply.

A minimum of a CMI Level 3 Diploma in Principles of Management and Leadership or equivalent qualification and at least five GCSEs at grade C or above including English or equivalent qualifications.

However, mature applicants (over 21 years) with relevant work experience (paid and/or unpaid) may be able to join the course in lieu of  formal qualifications, subject to satisfactory performance at a selection interview.

There are 6 series to choose from, each series has 3 courses:-

Series 1: Leading in a Digital Age

  • Approaches to Managing and Leading Teams in a Digital Age
  • Equipping High Performing Teams with the Right Skills and Experience
  • Managing and Leading Hybrid Teams

Series 2: Managing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

  • Legal and Organisational Approaches to Managing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • The Role and Responsibilities of Managers in Managing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • How to Develop and Implement Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Plans and Reports

Series 3: Managing Change

  • Why Change Happens in Organisations
  • Approaches to Managing Change within Organisations
  • Initiating and Planning Change within Organisations

Series 4: Conflict Resolution for Managers

  • Conflict in the Workplace
  • Resolving Conflict in the Workplace
  • Developing the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours to Manage Conflict in the Workplace

Series 5:  Data Driven Decision Making for Managers

  • Understanding Data to make Management Decisions
  • The Impact of Data on Management Decision Making
  • Interpreting and Presenting Management Data

Series 6: Managing Projects to Achieve Success

  • The Principles of Managing Projects
  • The Project Life Cycle
  • Tools and Techniques for Project Success

Course cost:

ÂŁ200 per course.

However, these courses are fully funded for WMCA residents who fit the minimum entry criteria.

Course delivery:

Each online course lasts between 1.5 – 2.5 hours, plus learners also attend a one hour face-to-face personal tutorial session delivered over the Zoom video conferencing platform.

The course start dates are flexible, however completion of each course must be achieved within three months of registration.

Online, on-demand learning materials are available 24/7 and are accessible by both PCs and mobile devices.

All learners are given FREE professional membership of the CMI, which includes access to a range of CMI products and services to support them throughout the qualification and later as they progress in their career.

Each learner automatically becomes a CMI member, gaining access to numerous benefits, including global networking opportunities, which significantly enhance their employment and career development prospects.

All learners have access to CMI’s Career Development Centre (CDC), which provides tailored cutting-edge CPD and career resources free of charge.  Through the CDC, learners can use management diagnostic tools, receive personalised development plans, get instant CV and interview feedback and build skills with expert advice videos and interactive e-learning.

All  learners have the opportunity to connect with experienced managers and leaders for career guidance and support with improving their management and leadership skills, free of charge via the CMI Mentoring scheme These mentoring opportunities provide learners with a learning experience which elevates knowledge-sharing to a practical level.

Before and after each course, learners complete a brief self-assessment to measure their growth and progress. Throughout each learning journey, learners engage in reflective activities to deepen their understanding.  At the end of each course, learners  share these insights with their tutor, showcasing their development and how this will be applied at work.

After achieving their first Bitesize course, learners can continue their learning journeys by enrolling on more Bitesize courses. Once learners complete three Bitesize courses, they gain the prestigious title of Foundation Chartered Manager and can use the post-nominal initials of fCMgr after their names.

Many achievers go on to pursue CMI Level 5 Award, Certificate, or Diploma qualifications in Management and Leadership with Sandwell College.
