Are you an adult learner passionate about dogs and looking to start a career in the dog grooming industry? This practical, hands-on course is the perfect first step towards becoming a professional Dog Grooming Assistant.
Designed specifically for adult learners, this qualification will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to work in a range of grooming settings – whether in a salon, a mobile grooming unit, or as part of a larger pet care business or franchise.
Maths and English at Grade 2/E or above.
You’ll gain real-world experience and build confidence as you learn how to safely and professionally assist in grooming tasks, with modules covering:
Preparing and grooming dogs prior to bathing
Bathing dogs of various breeds and sizes
Drying dogs and preparing them for styling
Trimming a dog’s coat in preparation for styling
Safe handling, moving, and lifting of dogs
Maintaining cleanliness and biosecurity in the grooming environment
Understanding professional conduct in the workplace
An introduction to canine anatomy, breed characteristics, and behaviour
Students have the benefit of working in our very own dog grooming salons, training with real dogs from clients.
Synoptic practical exams
This qualification is graded Pass/Merit/Distinction
Support is provided to all students by personal tutors and specialist dog grooming assessors.
Upon completion, you’ll be qualified to work as a Dog Grooming Assistant, with the option to progress to further training – including the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming – to become a fully qualified Dog Groomer.
