  • Understanding of geometric properties, including calculating perimeter, area, volume, and angles in a variety of shapes
  • Development of problem-solving skills using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebraic reasoning
  • Practice in estimating, rounding, and critically evaluating answers for accuracy and reasonableness
  • Skills to use appropriate mathematical techniques to solve increasingly complex problems in both familiar and unfamiliar contexts
  • Preparation for the official Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills Level 2 Maths assessments, widely recognised by employers and educational institutions across the UK

Whether your goal is to boost confidence in maths for daily life, meet the demands of your career, or progress to further qualifications such as GCSE Maths, this course provides the essential skills and knowledge you need to succeed.

This course content is based on the Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills Maths specification, ensuring it meets national standards and is suitable for adult learners.

Throughout the year, we take great pride in providing a diverse range of enrichment activities. These include:

  • Residential trips
  • Day excursions to various UK cities
  • Theatre outings

At Functional Skills Level 2 Maths, you will be assessed through a timed and externally marked test. The assessment includes two papers:

  • Paper 1: Non-calculator section
  • Paper 2: Calculator-allowed section

The assessment evaluates not only your ability to carry out calculations but also your reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be expected to demonstrate clear working methods, appropriate approaches, and accurate results.

Throughout the course, tutors provide support with practice questions, mock exams, and personalised guidance to help you prepare confidently for the assessment.

Additionally, tutors will assess learners continuously throughout the academic year to best prepare learners for the formal exams.

After successful completion of Functional Skills Level 2 Maths, learners can progress to GCSE Maths qualifications, vocational courses, apprenticeships, or employment opportunities that require improved communication skills.
