Take your first step into the construction industry with this hands-on Entry Level 3 course in Carpentry & Joinery. Designed for adults who want to develop real workshop skills, this practical programme introduces you to the tools, materials and techniques used in the trade.

You’ll learn how to measure accurately, handle tools safely, create simple joints and complete small practical projects. The course provides a supportive environment for adults returning to learning, giving you the confidence and foundational skills needed to progress onto higher-level construction courses.
Delivered at Cradley Heath Skills Campus, you’ll learn in modern workshops with expert tutors who support you to build skills step-by-step.

Who is this course for?

Ideal for adults aged 19+ who want to:
• Develop practical carpentry and joinery skills
• Gain confidence working in a workshop setting
• Explore construction as a future career option
• Progress onto Level 1 trade qualifications
• Improve accuracy, problem-solving and practical ability

No previous experience is required.

• You must be aged 19+
• Fully funded for eligible adults living in the West Midlands Combined Authority area

Over five weeks, you’ll develop:
• Safe and accurate use of hand tools and basic power tools
• Measuring, marking and preparing materials
• Basic joints and woodworking techniques
• Understanding timber types and construction materials
• Workshop safety and professional working practices

Learning is fully practical, delivered through demonstrations, guided tasks and supervised practice.
