Want to give your home a fresh new look or explore whether tiling could be a future trade for you? This four-week taster course introduces you to the essential skills involved in wall and floor tiling.

You’ll learn how to prepare surfaces, cut and place tiles, apply adhesive correctly and achieve clean, professional finishes. The course is practical, hands-on and designed for adults with little or no experience, making it a great option for home improvers or those considering a construction career pathway.

Delivered at Cradley Heath Skills Campus, this course provides a supportive workshop environment where you can build skills step-by-step.

Who is this course for?

Perfect for adults aged 19+ who want to:
• Learn basic tiling techniques
• Build confidence completing their own DIY projects
• Explore tiling as a potential career
• Gain hands-on experience using tools and materials
• Progress into further construction training

No experience required.

• You must be aged 19+
• Fully funded for most adults living in the West Midlands Combined Authority area

Through four practical sessions, you’ll explore:
• Surface preparation and measuring for tiling
• Cutting, shaping and fixing tiles
• Applying adhesive and grout correctly
• Creating clean edges and professional finishes
• Understanding tools, equipment and safe working practices

Learning is hands-on with demonstrations and guided practice.
