Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference in people’s lives? This four-week taster course introduces the essential values, skills and expectations of working in adult social care.

You’ll explore what care roles involve, the qualities needed to support individuals safely and respectfully, and the pathways available for future study or employment. The course offers a welcoming and supportive introduction for adults considering a career change or wanting to understand the sector more clearly.

Delivered at Cradley Heath Skills Campus – complete with a home care simulation workshop, this programme helps you build confidence before progressing onto accredited Level 1 and Level 2 care qualifications.

Who is this course for?

Ideal for adults aged 19+ who want to:
• Explore whether adult social care is the right career path
• Understand the responsibilities involved in care roles
• Build confidence before moving into formal training
• Learn how to support people with dignity and respect
• Progress into Level 1 social care qualifications

No previous care experience required.

• You must be aged 19+
• Fully funded for most adults in the West Midlands Combined Authority region

Across four weekly sessions, you’ll explore:
• The values and responsibilities of care roles
• Supporting individuals safely and respectfully
• Communication and person-centred care
• Exploring potential job roles and training pathways
• Understanding safeguarding and professional boundaries

Learning includes discussions, real-world examples and supportive tutor guidance.
