This introductory course is designed for adult learners who are looking to gain the essential skills and knowledge required to work in a customer service role. Whether you’re preparing to enter the workforce, change careers, or improve your confidence when dealing with customers, this Level 1 Certificate provides a solid foundation in the principles of effective customer service.

GCSE grade 3 or above in English or Level 1 in Functional Skills English.

Throughout the course, you will explore key topics that will help you understand and develop the core skills valued in customer service environments:

  • Customer Service Principles – Understand what good customer service looks like and why it is important across a range of sectors.

  • Understanding How to Work in a Customer Service Role – Learn about the expectations, responsibilities, and workplace behaviours needed to succeed.

  • Communicating with Customers – Develop your communication skills to interact effectively and professionally with a wide range of customers.

  • Understanding How to Manage Personal Performance and Development – Discover how to set goals, reflect on performance, and take steps to improve your skills.

  • Using a CV and Covering Letter to Apply for a Job – Learn how to create and tailor your CV and covering letter to apply for customer service roles confidently.

Each unit has specified learning outcomes and assessment criteria. To pass an internally assessed unit, learners must meet all of the units learning outcomes.

On successful completion of this course, learners may choose to progress to a Level 2 qualification in Customer Service, Business Administration, or related fields, or move directly into employment in customer-facing roles.
