ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses are for people who do not have English as their first language. Suitable for diverse learners, including refugees, asylum seekers and settled minority communities, this course encourages integration into the community and supports progression into higher levels of education and employment.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. An initial assessment is carried out to identify your level of English and place you in the best possible group and level.

  • ESOL courses cover essential skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening at different levels (based on your entry point)
  • All ESOL 16-18 learners attend 4 hours of Functional Skills Maths alongside their ESOL course
  • All Entry Level 2 & 3 learners must choose one of the following options (to study alongside ESOL) as part of their programme of study:

– Entry Level 3 Award in Health & Social Care
– Entry Level 3 Award in Automotive
– Entry Level 3 Award in Construction
– Entry Level 3 Digital Skills
